    Restoring Your Summer Glow

During the summer months our skin has a tendency to become dry and dull, overloaded and often pigmented due to sun exposure, resulting in a complexion that’s less than glowing if you don’t look after it.

Since returning from my summer getaway I have been trying to maintain my tan for as long as possible and tried every trick in the book to keep my skin glowing and hydrated.

Below are a few of my favourite tips.

    Body Brush

Dry body brushing daily is a natural way to increase circulation, improves metabolism, eliminates dead skin cells, and helps the body’s natural detoxification process. You want your skin looking its best when you have a tan so be sure to continue to body brush daily.

    Cleanse

When cleansing your skin in the shower, its important to use a cleanser that is going to moisturise and not strip your natural tan. The Sienna X PH Balancing Face and Body Wash gently eliminates impurities from the face and body, whilst protecting from dryness and environmental aggressors for long-lasting comfort, it has a gorgeous rejuvenating lemongrass and ginger fragrance, leaving your skin feeling deeply nourished skin from top to toe. A must have in my shower upon return from any summer holiday.

    Take Cool Showers

To maintain that tan, its also vital not to have the shower too hot as this can dehydrate your skin further.

    Exfoliate

It might feel like the last thing you want to do when you’ve got a tan, but it’s important to give yourself a full body exfoliation at least once a week to remove any dead skin cells. If your skin is feeling tight and looking dry or flaky it’s probably because the sun’s sucked all the moisture out of it, so opt for a more gentle exfoliator to buff and polish your tanned skin.

Exfoliating also means that any skin treatments used will be able to reach deep into the epidermis for better results. The Elemis Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow gently exfoliates dead skin cells and brightens dull skin with skin conditioning, nourishing and smoothing components and an exotic, indulgent aroma.

    Moisturise

Moisturise and moisturise some more! When returning from somewhere sunny its great to use something a little more rich as your skin needs the moisture. I love to use the Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Body Cream which is luxuriously rich with its conditioning oils of jojoba seed, cocoa seed and sweet almond. It helps to hydrate, nourish and protect the skin, while the delicious signature fragrance leaves your body scented all over.

    Gradual Tan

Preparation complete, every 2-3 days its time to top up that holiday glow! The Sienna X Gradual tan is a moisturising cream formula, perfect for achieving a gorgeous, natural looking top up. The gradual tan is also extremely kind to your skin and has gorgeous coconut fragrance, which reminds me daily of sitting on a beach sipping on a Pina Colada. For my face I like to use the Clinique Self Sun Tinted Lotion which is a gel-cream consistency feeling lightweight on my skin.

    Bronzer

Using bronzer will help you to recreate the fresh golden tones you would get from spending a day in the sun, I like to swirl my brush onto areas where the sun would naturally hit my skin. I apply the Chanel Soleil De Tan Bronzer to my forehead, temples, nose and cheekbones to mimic a natural glow.

    Hydrate!

Finally, its time to swap those cocktails to water! By keeping hydrated, you can prolong the life of your cells, including the lovely tanned cells on the surface of your skin, so a real or fake tan will last longer and look it’s best.
