  • How to have the perfect at home spa evening…

An at home spa evening can last as long as you like, occasionally I will just spend an hour or so of me time, run a bath, put on an episode of Gossip Girl and relax with a cup of tea (of a glass of bubbles if its a weekend!) Then there are times when I go all out, and have a full ‘at home spa’ evening with face masks, hair masks, full body exfoliation, tan & I might even do a mani/pedi after I’ve tidied my brows. I think its important to find that thing that allows you to completely switch off and forget about the important things in life for a couple of hours, and recreating a spa environment in my own bathroom is definitely one of those things that allows me to do that.

Tonight is going to be a full spa evening, I’ll document my step by step guide, but you can follow as much or little as you like, depending on how much time you have.

First things first, finish all the things you had planned for the day that were essential. I find ticking off my to do list as much as I can is the best place to start.

Next I’ll always take off any make up that I’ve been wearing. I’m currently using my Magnitone London wipe off cloth to remove any make up, then going over my face with Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish to cleanse my face. The formula is so luxurious, and you get a mini exfoliation at the same time.

The next thing I’ll do is apply a face mask. Tonight I am applying the rose face mask by Fresh. Its infused with real rose petals and is super hydrating. I’ll leave it on my skin for 5-10 minutes while I prepare my bath. At this point you can also apply a hair mask

I’m adding some of the Palmers Moisturising Body Oil to my bath. Not only is this great to apply to the skin after a bath, you can also add 1-2 capfuls under running water and it honestly makes the water feel so soft, as well as filling the room with the most gorgeous chocolatey aroma. Before I settle into the bath I’ll body brush using my Elemis Body Massage Brush.

Next I’ll light a candle. As its January and we’re still in the depths of winter with snow forecast this week, my White Company Winter candle was the perfect choice.

Bath time is strictly no technology, so phones away, its time to relax with a magazine for 15 minutes.

Once I’ve finished my cup of tea (being a Tuesday) I’ll begin to exfoliate my body using the Palmers Natural Cocoa body scrub, again this smells so chocolatey and is the perfect consistency for a gentle body polish as well as moisturising and softening the skin simultaneously. Whilst in the bath I’m also using the Palmers Foot Magic scrub, which has more of a pumice to it. I also love to use this before tanning especially around my ankles as it means you get no visible tan marks at all!

Once out the bath I’ll apply my Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede body cream all over. I love how luxurious and thick it is, meaning its so moisturising and definitely a treat for spa evenings.

Onto skincare, I’m toning my face with Pixi Rose Tonic, before applying my trusty Clinique moisturiser and eye cream.

I’ll spritz my pyjamas with This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, and apply some Palmers Foot Magic Balm before putting on a cosy pair of socks.

How do you like to relax?
